Chiropractors are primary health care practitioners that primarily focus upon the function and wellbeing of the spine, muscular and nervous systems. Chiropractors complete an intensive 5-year program at University that addresses biochemistry, physiological, and structural components. In combination with these courses, Chiropractors are qualified to take, read, report on and refer for spinal radiographs. So why do we recommend Chiropractic x-rays in particular cases? Learn more here.
As we’ve addressed previously, not all Chiropractors are the same. Some Chiropractors choose to practice different treatment techniques while others have various specialities (such as children’s care). Some Chiropractors even have onsite digital x-ray facilities so that they can ensure the proper taking and reporting of necessary cases. Our Chiropractic clinic has a dedicated x-ray suite that is fully equipped with some of the latest diagnostic equipment. Chiropractors who choose to have onsite x-rays must meet specific requirements which are set out by the local state government. These requirements include obtaining a radiographic license as well as having the facilities appropriately assessed for individual safety.
Chiropractic X-rays: Why Do We Use Them?
Chiropractors use x-rays for many different reasons, some of these we’ve included below:
- To rule out serious pathology
- To determine the most appropriate form of treatment
- To confirm the presence of an underlying condition
- To assess joint and bone health
- To assess the structural integrity of the spine and pelvis
- To assess trauma (fracture, break, dislocation) if an individual presents following an accident
- To investigate if infection is present and potentially explains an individuals complaint
- To examine the presence of diseases such as cancer, tumours and arthritis
- Individuals who have suspected or confirmed Osteoporosis
X-rays Assist Both You & The Chiropractor
Chiropractic x-rays assist both you and the practitioner therefore ensuring you receive the absolute best possible care. They provide valuable information regarding your presenting problem as well as showing us an overall picture of your spine. This allows us to formulate the most appropriate treatment methods for your complaint.
